Owner of Hofman-Green Jewelers in Ohio, Gary Krauss has died on Oct. 24th at the age of 100. The World War II veteran was born July 22, 1918, to Anna Reich Krauss and David Krauss, the owners of Krauss Jewelers and then Hofman-Green Jewelers located in Springfield, Ohio. Krauss achieved the rank of Sargeant.

After the war, he returned home to work for Hofman-Green in Springfield, which his father had purchased while he was away. Krauss later became the store's owner and manager for 37 years, becoming an American Gem Society Registered Jeweler (RJ) in 1971. He also served as director of the Ohio Jewelers Association.

After retirement, Krauss and his wife Bonnie had established the Krauss Family Scholarship Foundation at Wittenberg University in Springfield. He was a Paul Harris Fellow at the Springfield Rotary Club, and a frequenter and lifelong member of Temple Sholom. Bonnie passed away in 2004, preceding Gary's death by 14 years.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, as well as his four grandchildren. Krauss's family, instead of floral remembrance, has asked for any donations to either Temple SholomKrauss Family Scholarship at Wittenberg University or any charity of the donor's choosing.
