Tonight is the night! The time has come to brush childish things aside. The red carpet event of the year, The Met Gala, brings out everyone's A-game and the big guns come out (especially the jewelry)!

This year's theme and exhibition is titled "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination". It has received the approval of the Vatican, so it's sure to be an authentic exploration into the influence of Catholicism in fashion. Rihanna, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace will be co-chairing the event, so prepare for a breathtaking affair that might straddle the controversy line.

While we're probably in store for lots of layered crosses, ethereal headpieces, and flowing gowns, we're feeling retrospective and admiring past themes and the jewelry moments that really made a statement.

Rihanna has always favored the boldest choices on the carpet, and 2015 was no exception. This dress corresponded with the 2015 theme "China Through the Looking Glass". We adore the headpiece and couture dress by Guo Pei.

In 2011, Alexander McQueen:Savage Beauty was the theme, and while it was a monumental year and one of the most popular exhibits at the Met, the red carpet saw a lot of fashion that eclipsed the jewelry. After all, who needs jewelry when you're wearing an intricate McQueen dress?  xcept in the case of actress Ginnifer Goodwin. Goodwin went with a subtle cut-out style dress but a big statement Van Cleef & Arpels vintage necklace. The result is cutting edge.

In 2016, Margot Robbie choose to stand out amongst a sea of intricate dresses in a sleek Calvin Klein white sheath and BIG, matching  Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti "Bone" cuffs in gold. The look is so chic and has just the right amount of styling, proving that cuffs can be all the jewelry you need with a simple gown.

Of course who could forget Zendaya on any red carpet? The star always makes the best style choices.

2017 honored Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons, avant garde designs with sleek lines. And singer Cassie picked a gorgeous ear cuff by Rinaldy A. Yunardl, so unique we truly haven't seen anything like it on a red carpet.
