Judith Leiber sadly passed away recently on April 28, 2018. The designer died just hours after her husband of 72 years, Gerson Leiber.

Leiber, originator of minaudieres covered in rhinestones and a true ground breaker in the field, leaves behind many memorable "Objet d'art". Although she didn't specialize in precious gemstones, her pieces were like jewelry, and she will be missed for her innovative techniques.
Leiber got her start in New York, working for various handbag manufacturers until she began her own namesake brand in 1963.
She had achieved much success in her career, accessorizing celebrities up and down the red carpet, with her items appearing in cinema, most memorably in Sex and the City. Her artful handbags were also worn by many First Ladies, and appear in museums like the Smithsonian. The holocaust survivor went on to win the Lifetime Achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1993.
A few of our favorite Judith Leiber handbags:
Blake Lively with a stunning, sculptural fish.
Model Lily Aldridge with another scaled creation.
A gorgeous "french fry" bag.
