The 91st annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday, February 24th, as celebs roamed the red carpet, displaying their elegant apparel for the world to see. The 2019 Oscars had an air of flattering imitation thanks to Lady Gaga's choice in eveningwear, paying tribute to Audrey Hepburn's iconic Holly Golightly character from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Her gloves reached over her elbow while she dressed in a stunning black ballgown, sporting an iconic piece of jewelry Hepburn wore during a publicity shoot.

The Tiffany Diamond slung around Gaga's neck, set in platinum and boasting 16 cushion-cut diamonds at 80 total carats. The necklace also featured 46 round brilliant diamonds at over 15 total carats. The focal point of the piece, however, is the cushion-cut 128.54 carats Fancy Yellow diamond which was unearthed in South Africa in 1877, later to be purchased by Tiffany founder Charles Lewis in 1878.

Reed Krakoff, Tiffany & Co. Chief Artistic Officer said, “Lady Gaga is the ultimate creator, innovator and rule breaker, and I’m thrilled that she will be wearing the legendary Tiffany Diamond on the awards show red carpet for the first time since it was discovered 141 years ago."
